The last couple of years a lot of people have lost their jobs. The workforce has seen an unprecedented number of layoffs and business closures as companies re-align their business models to prepare for future success.
With all the layoffs, what are people doing to find a job? And, what are recent college grads doing to find jobs? Reports are showing that only between 20%-25% of 2011 college graduates will have a job within 90 days of graduating. SCARY!
What does this mean?
If you are looking for a job, graduating from college, or just pursuing a new opportunity, you are going to need to do more than submit a resume online to land a job. This is where CREATIVITY comes in handy. Do something creative to make yourself stand out from the crowd. Send your resume to the company you are applying for in something that will be sure to get the employers attention. FedEx it to them. Send the employer a CD with a video of you explaining your qualifications and experience for a particular position.
Employers love this kind of creativity! And in today’s job market, you absolutely have to do something to separate yourself from the crowd. Simply submitting a resume online will not cut it, especially when 200 people have likely done the same thing for a position.
